NREL Levelized Cost of Energy Calculator The levelized cost of energy (LCOE) calculator provides a simple calculator for both utility-scale and distributed generation (DG) renewable energy technologies that compares the combination of capital costs, operations and maintenance (O&M), performance, and fuel costs.
EIA Capital Cost Estimates for Electricity Generation Plants For the AEO 2016, EIA commissioned an external consultant to develop current cost estimates for utility-scale electric generating plants. This paper briefly summarizes the design of the project and provides a summary of its main findings, including a comparison of the new estimates to those used in AEO 2015. The final section discusses how EIA uses information on cost and other factors in modeling technology choice in the electric power sector.
Projected Costs of Generating Electricity 2015 Edition This joint report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is the seventh in a series of studies on electricity generating costs. It presents the latest data available for a wide variety of fuels and technologies, including coal and gas (with and without carbon capture), nuclear, hydro, onshore and offshore wind, biomass, solar, wave and tidal as well as combined heat and power (CHP). It provides levelized costs of electricity (LCOE) per MWh for almost 200 plants, based on data covering 21 countries (including four major non-OECD countries), and several industrial companies and organizations.
Lazard Levelized Cost of Energy Analysis 2016 Lazard’s Levelized Cost of Energy Analysis addresses the comparative “levelized cost of energy” for various technologies on a $/MWh basis. It including sensitivities, as relevant, for fuel costs, U.S. federal tax subsidies, and anticipated capital costs, over time. It also compares assumed capital costs on a $/kW basis for various generation technologies and presents summary assumptions for the various generation technologies examined.
